The question of how to obtain information about distant objects using sensors operating in different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum is the subject of the scientific-technical disciplines of photogrammetry and remote sensing. While photogrammetry focuses on reconstructing the geometric form of objects, remote sensing puts emphasis on the retrieval of physical object properties.
