Die Burg Rothenfels im Wölzertal ist eine der wenigen mittelalterlichen Burgen, die ihr ursprüngliches Bild bis heute erhalten hat.Der Haupttrakt der Burg wurde im 12.Jhd. n.Chr. auf einem steil abfallenden roten Felsvorsprung im Auftrag der Freisinger Bischöfe erbaut und blickt auf die Stadt Oberwölz.
